"Costa Rica Blue Marlin Fly Fishing School 2023"

First three weeks Report" June 1, through July 13, 2023

Greetings from Los Suenos Costa Rica:

So far during this 2023 el nino summer season we have fished three, full Blue Marlin Fly Fishing school trips aboard the "Dragin Fly" with Captain James Smith along with his crew of Mates Berto and Aramis, while using my new assistant instructor Justin Melin. Having Justin aboard allows my clients to have a qualified coach and instructor with them during times while I am unable to be aboard. During the weeks that I am not aboard, I am still able to remain at my condo doing instruction and being with my students as their host while we are ashore.

So far during this summer season the the results were not as good as the last few years, due to the "el nino" factor and other related reasons, that said; every one of our students/clients has caught at least one Blue Marlin, on fly, while following IGFA rules for fly fishing and using 20 pound test or lighter class tippet. We are now into our second week of July and the fishing has improved drastically.

Trip number one: May 31 through June 6, Bill and Nikki Wilson for their first trip of the season.

June 2, 2023 Score: 3 Blue Marlin Raised, 1 Bite, 1 Blue Marlin caught and released on fly.

June 3, 2023 Score: 8 Blue Marlin and 3 Sailfish Raised, 3 Blue Marlin and 3 Sailfish bites, 32 Blue Marlin and 3 Sailfish caught and released.

June 4, 2023 Score: 1 Blue Marlin and 1 Sailfish raised, 1Blue Marlin and 1 Sailfish bites, 1 Sailfish caught and released

All fish were caught on fly tackle while using IGFA rules for fly fishing along with 20 pound test or lighter class tippet. Congratulations to Team "Dragin Fly", my anglers, the crew, along with Justin Melin my new assistant Instructor. Great Job. My next angler will arrive on July 15 and we will head back out on Monday July 16, can't wait, I still Love My Job.

Well it was a long three days raised 22 blue Marlin 7 bites 1 release we also raised 9 sailfish had 7 bites catch 2 ....all on IGFA fly tackle
