Los Suenos Leg 2
The girls did great, they started the day of Leg 2 of the Los Suenos Ladies Series with a marlin and maintained that lead all the way until the last hour when they were overtaken by the DASea. Cameras were waiting for them to give interviews and talk about the day. Leg 2 of the "regular" series was not so good for the "boys". In fact, Anna again had the best hook up ratio of any of us. Day 1 we came out swinging and swinging and swinging. James kept giving us shots but we could not keep them connected, ending up 6 for 16 bites for the day. Day 2 was much better on the hook up ratio, but we could not find the bites, catching only 4 sails. Day 3, after 2 hours of fishing and only one bite, James made a bold move, running almost two hours until he fould what he wanted. In the afternoon we landed 8 more sails, a tuna, nice wahoo and missed several others. All in all a great day, but not nearly enough to dig out of the hole we dug the first couple of days.

Pescadoras
Anna and her team of ladies did great this past week, having double digit days both days, but 3 sailfish shy of the podium of the Pescadora tournament in Quepos. Their last day they were 88% hook up ratio. Wow. Today they are at it again, fishing in leg 2 of the Los Suenos Ladies tourney.

slow day saved at the end
Capt. James went looking for something great, hooked and lost a marlin, but found no other love and no other bites until he made it back up on the edge after 2;30 in the afternoon. Fortunately they were biting and he tallyied up a sailfish release for each of our 5 anglers on board. Whew, that was a close one.

groundhog day in Costa Rica
Just wanted you to remind you that sunshine kills Corona. All good here in the tropics with things getting back to normal. The current has been shoving bait right up on the bank with double digit sailfish days within 15 miles of the marina. Yes, there are some marlins swilling around with them and almost daily shots. Also up on the bank have been schools of caballas or what we would call jumbo cigar minnows. As we are trolling for the sails a double sabiki rig is at the ready and deployed when we find a bait ball. If you hit it the mark, as the sabiki comes to the surface it looks like a string of Christmas lights. If you can get them up before a sailfish attacks, these cigar minnows are like candy to the tunas. Not into tugging on tunas? Ok, take a few minutes and drop some down on our high speed bottom fishing reels to catch a grill-sized snapper for dinner. This day after day good fishing is like groundhog day in Costa Rica
