double digit days 15 miles from the marina
Good sailfishing and close. No need to venture into the deep unless you are looking for the tunas.....which we found a couple of days ago after a double digit morning on the sails. Double digits on the sails yesterday right up on the bank.

Rock Star and Los Suenos Tournament reports
Crazy couple of tournament weeks and yes I have been slack on the reports. We started in Quepos last Saturday for Day 1 of the Rock Star and we had a big day, ending up at the end of the day in 2nd place of nearly 70 boats with 17 sailfish releases. On day 2 we had a tough morning, only landing 3, but ended up with a double digit afternoon, settling into 5th place for the tournament. This past weekend was the Los Suenos tournament. We picked along on day 1 and 2 but were at the bottom of the pack, 30th place of 40 boats, then moving up to 29th place on day 2. Capt. James was going hero or zero on the last day and it worked out. Four 500 pt marlin releases and 6 sailfish put in 1st place for the day and moved us up to 6th place in the tournament. Feels good to be competitive Going tuna fishing today Congrats to Cabana for their Rock Star win and Grand Slam taking first leg of Los Suenos Triple Crown

More hoops through which to jump but EPIC fishing awaits those who are willing
After 9 months of pointless Costa Rica travel restrictions the USA is now taking the lead in dumb ass rules that do nothing but stifle tourism and small business. As of Jan. 26 a negative COVID test is required to enter the USA. No problem making that happen on our end down here. Testing is on site and available here at Los Suenos with results within 24 hours. This unfortunate restriction will not slow the ongoing spread of the China virus in the US but it is very effective at discouraging travel, which I guess is the point? As a result of this new bone-head restrcition, we have plenty of last minute openings on the Dragin Fly. Book 3 days and get a 4th day FREE.

Something about double digits
Jan. 4 Report XX sailfish releases today on the Dragin Fly , a solid double digit day. Also 5 yellowfin and a couple of dorado for dinner. Double digits? That's what we call a day with at least ten releases of sailfish....or marlin.....snook, roosterfish or red drum. Catching 10 of any of these species in a day is an accomplishment and should be noted, but it should not be a competition. Catch as many as you want, but don't feel like you have to catch more just in order to beat a personal record or anyone else's record for that matter. Don't get me wrong, if that's your thing, fine, have at it, but we are going to call a double digit day what it is without getting into the numbers. This is just our way of not encouraging "excess" which I believe everyone should define for themself.
