On the way to the awards banquet......
.....to congratulate the winners. What an amazing day. We got off to a great start, catching a dozen before noon, but then the bite died, Capt. James finally got on them again, but we were one fish short of the daily, losing on time with 4 other boats, all with 24 sailfish.
For the tourney, that black marlin worth 500 points, or cleaning up any 6 of our 20+ sancochoes would have been all the difference.
I'm very proud of James, Berto and Joseph for the work they put into this tournament and giving us the opportunities. I'm so sorry for them that we didn't capitalize on those opportunities.
Aggitator, Pelese and Spanish Fly or Sea Angel, it's too close to call 3rd place and nothing is official.

Day 1
After trading the lead for many hours of the day yesterday a 2 o'clock lull and lack of bites pushed us back into about 10th place. With over 30 sailfish releases, we are in the hunt, along with 20 other boats, all within a couple bites of the lead.
We did have the opportunity to break off a BIG black marlin with 20 minutes left. Even if we had stayed connected and settled into the fight, it may not have mattered, that joker was so big we could still be doing battle.
Great fishing and looking forward to Day 2.

Groundhog Day is a good thing
Good sailfishing remains close and consistent with double digit shots and often catches of sails. Catching more on the days customers are not battling 50-100 pound tunas.

Good fishing continues
El Nino? Maybe so, but the fishing has been good with consistent double digit days, good tuna fishing and some marlin and dolphin have showed......
