Press Release
Dragin Fly Team Goes Wire to Wire in Presidential Papagayo Cup
Anglers Pocket nearly $25,000 in Victory
Marina Papagayo, Costa Rica—The Dragin Fly angling team of Dwight Wolf, Mike Rankey, Tim DonLevy and Pat Renfro led wire to
wire in the third annual Presidential Papagayo Cup, scoring 1,200 points from two blue marlin and six sailfish releases on Day Three
alone for a total of 3,200 points and the win. They also swept the daily and overall optional jackpots along the way to victory to rack
up nearly $25,000 in prize money. After releasing a blue marlin and seven sailfish on Day One, the team never let up, remaining in
the lead at nearly every turn until the final call for lines out was made at 3 p.m. on Day Three.
This comes as their third win of the year, following a first place finish in the Los Suenos Signature Series event in January as well as
winning the title of Top Overall Team in the Los Suenos series. The Dragin Fly is a 42-foot custom Maverick charter vessel captained
by James Smith.

Papagayo Presidential Challenge
"I'm sure you heard, but we swept the dailies. I ended up catching 5 sails and a blue the last day and ended up getting top angler. Dwight got third. We ended up with 26 sails and 2 blues for 3200 points. 2nd and 3rd were tied at 2000.
James and Dragin Fly crew did an amazing job, as usual. James amazes me with his nose for finding billfish.

Day 1 Report from Papagayo
Hey
guys, just thought I’d give you an update. After the first day of the
tourney we are in 1st place (of 8 boats) with 7 sailfish (100 points
each) and 1 marlin (300 points). So we have a thousand points.
Dwight, another one of our anglers, caught the (~350# blue) marlin (and 3
sails). 2nd place boat has 400 I believe, so we are looking
good, but still have 2 days of fishing. I caught 2 sails today. Gus
got to catch 2 sails yesterday in practice. Anyway, we’re having a good
time, weather’s been pretty nice, a bit hot, but that’s expected. Hope
all is well on the home front. I’ll try and update you tomorrow.
Take care & GO TEAM DRAGIN FLY!
