Tournament Report

Not too good for the Dragin Fly, but I had an opportunity to spend the week with some very good new friends. We all learned a lot and fine tuned our team through the tournament so look out in March!

In 3 days we ended up having 34 billfish bites, landing 14 sails and ending up in 25th place out of 37 boats.

To put it in perspective, our group that arrived to fish the next few days asked us how we did. We were bummed by not doing better in the tournament, when we told them that we had 14 sails in 3 days, their response was, "Dang, that's not bad, we'll take that". I hope they get it and a lot more, with Berto and Marcos helping with the hook ups, I'm sure that they will.

Congratulations to Southern Pride who won Leg 1 of the Los Suenos Signature Billfish Series with 4100 points, that's 36 sails and a marlin. Followed by Crush'em with 3700 points, all sails and Bandolera in 3rd with 3600 points that included 2 marlin and 26 sails.

Bottom of the pack

Caught 5 of the 13 bites that we had today.....not too good. but we learned a lot. Maybe we can put that to use tomorrow with a better hook up ratio.

Congrats to Bandelera who leads wtih 15oo points, 10 sails and a marlin, several boats with a dozen sailfish releases and us at the bottom of the pack holding on to 500 points.

Boyd got his marlin

Our 2nd grand slam this week, the first was made up of the black marlin in the video in the previous post, a nice blue marlin and a sail. Today it was 2 blue ones, a stripey and pair of sails.....also dorado for dinner.....

Had 17 sailfish bites yesterday, but I was helping hook them so we only landed 7.

we had 8 sailfish before 10 am today then went chasen rooster fish that seems like it ben the same as the last time i went rooster fishing didnt get any better but we catch 1 cubera snapper and 1 big amberjack
