Tournament Report

Day 1 of leg 2 of the Los Suenos tournament and we're right where we were after day one of the last tournament, 7th place, but still within striking distance of the money.

Today was an epic marlin bite, the problem was that we started the day targetting sailfish and quickly catching 5. About 30 miles away, the rest of the fleet was working on the 500 point marlin. We picked up and ran to the bite, within 20 minutes of arriving, we released 4 striped marlin, then picked up a blue for the grand slam, later landing another stripe.

First place boat, Let it Ride, landed 18 marlin today......we'll work on catching up with them tomorrow.

Great trip to Drake Bay although we had some engine trouble on the way down. Got that resolved (fuel pump) and continued the journey. Here are some sailfish pics from the trip:

making a move

The past few weeks have been tough with the best of the bite heading south. We've been "making the day" with several sailfish and daily shots at marlin, with marlin releases 2 of the last 3 days.....but today was just too tough......the Dragin Fly released only one sailfsih.

We're packing our bags and planning some overnighters until the tournament next week. By then, things will have changed around Los Suenos and we'll have a better idea of what's happening closer to home.

Although the bite has been tough, we're still having fun, here are some shots to prove it.

We'll give you a report when the plans are finalized, but it's gonna be a really good trip...... Quepos, Furuno, Cano Island, Drake Bay, beyond?

Will keep you posted.

still picking away at them.....

......with the exception of Friday, releasing 15 sailfish, the fishing has been a bit tough. Still seeing about 10 billfish/day, including the occasional marlin. Nothing red hot, but everyone is getting a turn.

Good, but not great

We're making the day with at least everyone catching a fish each day. Things have been a little slow, with average sailfish releases of 4-8/day, an occassional marlin and a nearly daily dorado for dinner.

We were inshore fishing today, a few rosters and plenty of jacks.

steady fishing, another Grand Slam

The Dragin Fly did a good job in the recent Los Suenos Tournament, but just couldn't get the marlin bites. In three days, we caught 27 sailfish, but the 500 point marlin were elusive and we could never catch up with the leaders who all had multiple marlin releases.

Since the tournament, the fishing has been steady, but we aren't setting any records. We are now getting daily shots at marlin with 5-10 sailfish opportunities per day.

Yesterday, a 350 pound blue marlin, 450 pound black marlin, 4 sailfish and a dorado, our 3rd grand slam of the year.
